Community Fellow Arthur Morgan got tired of seeing leftover food thrown in dumpsters after the JFX Farmers’ Market. So, he decided to salvage it.
Morgan is one of 12 individuals selected in 2012 for our highly competitive Community Fellowship program, providing an 18 month stipend for individuals to work full-time on change within their communities.
Morgan’s project, Gather Baltimore, gleans food from farmers’ markets, farms, and anywhere else he can find it—and redistributes that food to local hospitals, meal programs, and faith-based food pantries.
It’s common sense—instead of throwing out food, give it to someone who is hungry.
If you are aware of any places in the Baltimore area where food is going to waste, you can contact Gather Baltimore.

P.S. We are currently recruiting another crop of Community Fellows. Applications are due today, and are already piling up on our front desk!
