Stan will work with Baltimore’s American Indian community to create a cultural center that will acknowledge the importance and resiliency of Native American culture and history. The project will focus on self-identity as a crucial aspect of any effort to combat poverty, poor education, addiction and other social problems prevalent in the American Indian community. The cultural center will also challenge the intentional and long term effort to make the Indian experience invisible and will present aspects of the Indian past and present to underscore the reality that American Indians are “still here.”
