OSI-Baltimore, in partnership with the Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts present the Tenth Annual Urban Child Symposium, “Restorative Practices and the Urban Child,” which will examine alternatives to harsh school discipline practices. Education, justice, and policy experts will focus on restorative practices and restorative justice as powerful vehicles to address negative student behavior and to reinforce the school as a community. Panelists will discuss problems that include keeping children in school and graduating on time, addressing children with special needs through restorative practices, improving school climate, and the school-to-prison pipeline, among others.
