Recently, 2008 OSI Community Fellow, artist Ashley Minner, participated in an innovative theater experience called “Plunge: An Experiential Storytelling Lab.” Plunge has five separate story encounters in an immersive environment and one-on-one experiences for audiences (more on the experience here).
Minner worked both as a “maker” helping other storytellers to create their installations, as well as a “teller” of her own story.
A member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, Minner used her 2008 fellowship to develop the Native America After School Art Program at the Baltimore American Indian Center as a way to give younger generations of Lumbees a connection to their heritage. Minner’s OSI project was featured in our Impact Series. She was also part of the “Elders of Baltimore” project.
