OSI Community Fellows Hannah Brancato (2015) and Jacqueline Robarge (2002) and OSI grantee Free State Justice were honored in City Paper’s Best of Baltimore issue.
Brancato’s project FORCE Monument Quilt (Best Monument) aims to create a public monument of healing for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Brancato co-founded FORCE a few years ago, before becoming a Community Fellow. As part of her fellowship, she established Gather Together: a Survivor Support Network, as a way to better support survivors and transform cultural attitudes to prevent rape and abuse.
Jacqueline Robarge’s project Power Inside (Best Advocate) is a grassroots network for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women which provides transitional support from jail and prison to the community. The network allows the women to become a voice in the criminal justice movement and to educate the broader community on incarceration issues.
Free State Justice was voted Best Non Profit by the paper. Free State Justice was established to help improve the lives of low-income lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (“LGBT”) in Maryland.
