BALTIMORE – Open Society Institute-Baltimore, Good News Baltimore, and the Walters Art Museum have collaborated to present an important conversation to mark the one-year anniversary of the Baltimore Uprising, called “What is Progress? Reflections One Year Later.” The event, at 7pm on April 21, is part of OSI-Baltimore’s “Talking About Race” series and the Walters’ Ted Low Lecture series. It’s also the culmination of GNBLive!, a series of timely discussions about the future of our city one year after the 2015 uprising, organized by Good News Baltimore. The discussion will focus on what has changed since the uprising and what has not and explore the question: What would meaningful change in Baltimore look like?
The panelists for the discussion include Joseph Jones, director of the Center for Urban Families and a member of OSI-Baltimore’s advisory board, Devin Allen, the photographer and activist who shot the iconic Time magazine cover during the uprising, Sharayna Christmas Rose of Muse 360 Arts, Kathleen Sherrill, principal of SP Arch Inc. and president of American Institute of Architects, Maryland, and Aaron Bryant, the Mellon Curator of Photography at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History, opening in September, and chair of the Special Commission to Review Baltimore’s Confederate Monuments. Good News Baltimore hosts Ashley Deadwyler Jones and Linda Evans will moderate the conversation, which will include multimedia elements and input from the audience.

7pm: “What is Progress? Reflections One Year Later” conversation in the auditorium
