This month, a committee of civic leaders will convene to select up to 10 social entrepreneurs to become the newest cohort of Baltimore Community Fellows.
Our Baltimore Community Fellows have grown into a collaborative network of more than 125 social activists, most of whom are still engaged daily in projects that strengthen our city. They are on the ground testing new ideas, using innovation and elbow grease to make real change in the lives of so many who need opportunities and support. They also serve as an “early warning system,” letting us know about emerging problems.
To make their work even stronger, OSI-Baltimore recently awarded 10 grants, totaling $193,200, to organizations begun by Community Fellows that, over time, have clearly demonstrated their value. These grants allow alumni Fellows, who continue to serve on the staff and boards of the organizations they founded years ago, to solidify the organizations’ infrastructure and refine their programs.
Our Fellows are our eyes and ears on the ground. Bolstering these individuals as they create smart organizations helps community members to realize their dreams and communities to become stable. This kind of optimism and vitality restores confidence and motivates people to jump on the bandwagon to make our city great.
Join us in making real change.
