This Sunday, October 30th, OSI and the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) will host Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson in conjunction with the museum’s new exhibit, A Movement in Every Direction: Legacies of the Great Migration.
Wilkerson, author of the award-winning books The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration (2010) and Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents (2020), will share her perspectives on the Great Migration and its relevance to present-day migration, followed by conversation with Jessica Bell Brown, co-curator of the BMA’s exhibit and Curator and Department Head for Contemporary Art at the BMA.
This event is part of OSI’s Talking About Race series, which first featured Wilkerson in 2011.
Wilkerson will give her talk and participate in QnA via Zoom that will be shown in the BMA Auditorium as part of the museum’s Community Day activities.
The event is free but registration is required to attend the in-person broadcast in the BMA Auditorium or to watch online. Recording is not permitted.
