In November, the White House hosted a Summit on Covid-19 Equity, including presentations by US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy and other public health officials and discussion on “The Power of Partnerships” and “From COVID-19 Equity to Health Equity.”
In the afternoon, during the “What Works Showcase,” advocates from around the country were asked to present about their approaches to vaccine equity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Evan Serpick, OSI-Baltimore’s Team Manager for Communications and Narrative Change, gave a presentation on the Baltimore Equitable Vaccination Initiative (BEVI), a a collaboration between the Rockefeller Foundation and Baltimore-based stakeholders, anchored by Open Society Institute-Baltimore (OSI), to ensure equitable distribution of vaccines in Baltimore City.
