Last week, Baltimore City youth led a training for 450 staff members of the Enoch Pratt Library System, to, in the words of one trainer, “help youth within their healing process.” The session was one of a series of trainings as part of a broader collaboration between Baltimore City, OSI-Baltimore, and many other partners to introduce trauma-responsive care throughout Baltimore City government as mandated in the Healing City Act. The city recently announced an investment of more than $1 million in American Rescue Plan Act money to implement the act.
As WJZ reports, the next city agency to receive training in trauma-responsive care, including conflict resolution and de-escalation, will be Recreation and Parks.
