Last week, the BRIDGES Coalition and Baltimore Harm Reduction Coalition hosted a virtual briefing with members of the Legislative Black and Latino Caucuses to increase awareness about the life-saving possibilities of overdose prevention sites and other proven harm reduction tactics as part of the 5th Annual Harm Reduction Advocacy Days.
Among the guests was Terrell Jones from OnPoint NYC, the organization that recently opened two pilot overdose prevention sites in New York City – the first to open in the United States. There are currently more that 150 overdose prevention sites worldwide and there has never been a single overdose in any of them.
