Yesterday, 2018 OSI Community Fellow Shelley Halstead, founder of Black Women Build-Baltimore, returned to the Kelly Clarkson Show to show off a house that she had just finished renovating with Bryanna, the new homeowner, who appeared with her.
In September, Halstead appeared on the show to talk about Black Women Build, which trains Black women in construction skills like plumbing, electrical, and carpentry by restoring vacant and deteriorating houses in West Baltimore, which the women then have an option to buy. She left with a $50,000 check to support her work.
This time, Bryanna, left with a $25,000 check courtesy of Xfinity, who also agreed to cover all of her new house’s technology needs for a year. Watch the full segment below.
