Giant portraits of community-based advocates for peace have started popping up on bus shelters around Baltimore (and Instagram), each with a QR code that links to a video of the advocates sharing messages of peace. These are part of Baltimore Youth Film Arts’ “Speak for Peace” campaign.
Among the advocates featured are 2015 OSI Community Fellow Greg Carpenter (poster at Echodale Ave. & Harford Rd.; video), 2017 Fellow Alex Long (poster at York Rd. and Woodbourne Ave.; video), just-announced 2020 Fellow Troy Staton (poster at Pratt St. & Carey St.; video), City Councilman Leon Pinkett III (poster at North Ave. & McCulloh St.; video), and Erricka Bridgeford, co-founder of OSI grantee Baltimore Ceasefire (poster at Saratoga St. & Howard St.; video).
The posters will remain on display until December 6th. You can see all the posters and video clips on the Speak for Peace Baltimore Instagram page.
