Recently, Bmore Art magazine profiled 2008 OSI Community Fellow Ashley Minner. In a wide-ranging and candid interview, Minner, whose fellowship used art as a tool to engage Native American youth in a community-based arts program, talked about everything from her PhD project “The Reservation” and her position as a professor in UMBC’s American Studies department to the difficulty of just being an artist who happens to also be Native American, especially during November, which has been designated Native American Heritage Month.
