Last week, Mayor Catherine Pugh visited Maunabo, a city on the Southeastern coast of Puerto Rico, as part of a mayoral exchange organized by Open Society Foundations. The program, launched in February, was created so that U.S. mayors could express solidarity and share expertise with their Puerto Rican counterparts as they try to rebuild after Hurricane Maria ravaged the island.
“We’ll share our knowledge with them,” Pugh said in a Baltimore Sun story about the trip. “We’ll try to be as connective as we can be to other resources.”
On Sunday, NPR’s Weekend Edition covered the mayoral exchange, interviewing Hoboken mayor Ravi Bhalla about his trip to Villalba, a city two hours from San Juan.
