Students from Writers in Baltimore Schools (WBS), the program 2008 OSI Community Fellow Patrice Hutton founded, worked with Johns Hopkins University Writing Seminars in this semester’s Fiction & Social Engagement course to explore how disparate life experiences can inspire and inform our fiction. Students will showcase their work at a reading tonight, Monday, April 23 at Bird in Hand in Charles Village. RSVP here.
Recently, three writers from The Writers in Baltimore Schools program at Lillie May Carroll Jackson visited our joint JHU/WBS course and gave a reading. Watch clips of 7th graders Azera, Quintiya, and Jaelah here.
Hutton developed WBS as a way to provide in-school, after-school, and summer creative writing workshops to Baltimore City middle school students.
