Yesterday, Fox 45 did a great story on one of OSI’s newest Community Fellows, Shantell Roberts and her project Touching Young Lives, Inc. Roberts, who lost her infant daughter Tylour Marie in 2011, founded Touching Young Lives a year later to focus on public education for best practices in infant care, is using her fellowship to get the Portable Alternative Crib (P.A.C.) to as many parents as possible. The P.A.C is a lightweight cardboard box that serves as a bassinet.
She also wants to use her fellowship to educate parents about safe sleeping methods for babies. “I wanted to make sure no other parent felt or experienced what my family felt and experienced,” Roberts’ says. “I would never want that to happen to someone else’s family.”
