OSI-Baltimore will partner with the New Day Campaign, an organization that uses art-based programming to challenge the stigma associated with mental illness and substance abuse, on its 2017 “Addiction Now” Coffee House series. The Addiction Now series explores the current cultural, scientific, and clinical aspects of addiction.
The first Addiction Now event, “Opioid, Opioid, Opioid” will take a look at the current opioid crisis—both in the United States and elsewhere in the world. Participants will discuss what’s happening beyond the national border to consider what might work within our communities. The current crisis will be examined through a historical lens, as well. How has substance use—with an emphasis on opioids—been viewed and managed in bygone cultures and eras?
Participants should bring stories, questions, and ideas for a primer on all things opioid.
“Opioid, Opioid, Opioid,” will be held on January 31, 2017 from 5 to 7pm at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. More information can be found on our events page.
Additional partners for this event are Ashley Addiction Treatment and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
The 2017 season of the New Day Campaign includes events that focus on four themes, Turbulent Waters, Candle Light, Just Breathe and Addiction Now. Go to the New Day Campaign website for more information on these events.
