If you have big goals for significant and lasting change in Baltimore, you need to be audacious. But in addition, you have to partner with patience and persistence—and with the many others in our city who share the vision of opportunity for all.
So our goals for 2011 are the same as they have been since OSI arrived here 14 years ago. And we are committed to our vision until it is realized, for as long as it takes.
So what are those resolutions?
- Tackling drug addiction by making certain that treatment is available for anyone who needs it, whether or not they have insurance or if they are under-insured.
- Reducing the over-use of incarceration by making certain that, when appropriate, alternative programs are chosen. And, when individuals are released from prison, make certain that they have the services and the opportunity to build healthy, sustainable lives.
- Keeping youth connected to school and on the path to success, inside and outside the classroom. Reforming policies that push kids out of school and into harm’s way.
- Building a corps of social visionaries and entrepreneurs who work directly with the underserved in the city of Baltimore—and making certain they have the resources to build upon their dreams to make Baltimore a city of opportunity.
We hope that our resolutions are yours, too, and that you’ll join us in the years ahead to make them possible!
